The Institute for Infectious Disease Research (IIDR) conducts research on HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, other blood-borne and/or sexually transmitted infections, and other infectious diseases. Areas of research include: epidemiology, risk factors, social networks, harm reduction, policy and interventions to reduce disease transmission and/or improve outcomes for those who are infected. IIDR staff, with a broad multi-disciplinary range of substantive and methodological expertise, have made major contributions to the understanding of the HIV and hepatitis C epidemics in New York City and HIV epidemics throughout the world, as well as to scientific understanding of epidemiology, prevention and care more generally.
